You can use price lists, to preset how the unit price/cost will be transformed, when the corresponding item is put on the Document.
The Document inherits the Price Lists from the Trading Partner Master.
The transformation of the unit price/cost is defined by rules and conditions set by the user.
Price List considerations
There are multiple considerations when you specify a Price List:- Where will it be applied? On Sales or Purchasing Documents, or both?
- How will it be presented on Documents?
- The normal unit price is displayed as a reduced figure, OR
- The discount value i.e. -10% is displayed in a column on the same row as the discounted Item.
- What parameters(s) trigger its application? Specific Item:
-
- Specific Item Category,
- Specific Item Class,
- Specific Customer or Supplier,
- Specific Customer or Supplier Class,
- Quantity of Items quoted or Ordered.
-
- What calculation is applied? For example,10% off all Items for this Customer, 30% off if the quantity of this Item exceeds 1000.
- In which Currency the Prices are defined?
Advanced Price Lists

Advanced Price Lists enable you to specify:
- Price Lists for trading partners i.e. Customers, Suppliers or both.
- Price Lists for any given Currency.
- Global price discounts i.e. 10% of every Item.
- Global and Item specific quantity discounts.
- Global total order value discounts.
- Pricing formulas based upon Item, Classification, Customer, etc.
You can apply a Price List to a Supplier’s Price List. You’d probably use this to manipulate supplier catalog prices.

For example: If Item is selected, then Item Category, Item Class are not editable and the remaining are editable.
Pricing Formula syntax
Formulas are always in square brackets. The formulas have a specific format to express:
- Prices based upon cost i.e. [C+10%], cost plus ten percent.
- Prices based upon quantity price breaks i.e. [10-20:5%], buy ten or any number up to and including 20 then discount by 5%.
A series of price breaks would be annotated as follows:
[10-20:5%] [21-30:10%] [31-:15%]
You can specify a discount on a single case i.e. [31-:15%] represents a 15% discount on a quantity greater than 31.
A price can be specified in three ways:
- Absolute i.e. 34.03.
- Percentage i.e. 20% of the base price.
- Calculated from cost i.e. C+20% (cost plus 20%).
